Jay Rollins
Managing Principal
Mr. Rollins is a Managing Principal and Co-Founder of JCR. In addition to leading the firm and setting JCR’s overall strategy, Mr. Rollins’ day-to-day responsibilities are primarily focused on transaction sourcing and underwriting.
From 1999 to 2005, Mr. Rollins was a Managing Director at GMAC Commercial Mortgage, where his team focused on making opportunistic loans to transitional multi-family, retail, office, land and industrial properties.
Prior to GMAC, Mr. Rollins was the President and Founder of Eastern Realty Corporation, an “RTC era” real estate investment company. As General Partner, Eastern Realty resolved, repositioned and sold the distressed notes and REO. These disposition efforts included debt restructurings, bankruptcy, litigation and development, as well as note and property sales.
Mr. Rollins is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer on the topic of real estate finance at Universities. Additionally, he has written numerous articles on the topic of commercial real estate finance. In July 2007, his article “As Good As It Gets” was published in the National Real Estate Investor calling the top of the market.
Mr. Rollins holds an MBA, specializing in Finance, from George Washington University and a BS in Finance and Marketing from Virginia Tech.
Maren Steinberg
Principal
Ms. Steinberg is a Managing Principal and Co-Founder of JCR. Her responsibilities are primarily focused on investment execution and asset management.
Prior to co-founding JCR, Ms. Steinberg held the position of Vice President, Operations at GMAC. Ms. Steinberg was responsible for all asset management functions, loan servicing and balance sheet functions. She also developed underwriting and asset management policies and procedures. Additionally, she was responsible for loan restructures and modifications, as well as capital markets execution for the syndication of loans within the team led by her and Mr. Rollins.
Before GMAC, Ms. Steinberg served as Director of Development at Royal Investments Corporation (“Royal”), an affiliate of Crown NorthCorp. At Royal She developed and implemented business plans for a UK-based loan servicing platform, as well as for individual assets totaling over $300 million. Ms. Steinberg was also involved in various aspects of the due diligence process and for analysis of an approximately $640 million real estate acquisition in Sweden. Additionally, she conducted due diligence, negotiations and contract closings on a European transaction totaling approximately $200 million.
Prior to Royal, Ms. Steinberg served as Eastern Realty Corporation’s Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Steinberg focused on managing cash and investments for the firm’s portfolios. She also provided reporting to investors, while overseeing all due diligence and closings for real estate and other related investments at the firm.
Ms. Steinberg holds an MBA from George Washington University and a BS in Finance from the University of Maryland.
