The Team
Mr. Rollins is a Principal and founder of JCR Capital. In October 2008, JCR Capital completed a minority sale of the company to the private equity firm, Jacobs Asset Management (JAM). This capital infusion has allowed JCR to accelerate the growth of its real estate debt and equity platform.
JCR Capital is now expanding its platform and infrastructure and is actively lending and investing in distressed and opportunistic real estate transactions. JCR continues to raise additional capital around JAM’s core investment and continues to work with larger capital providers on a “managed account” basis.
Prior to forming JCR, Mr. Rollins was Managing Director of GMAC’s Commercial Mortgage “Structured Products Group.” Mr. Rollins started this group in 1999 and where he managed a $500 million balance sheet position and originated and “made and paid” over $1.3 billion of real estate bridge loans, mezzanine loans, and participating debt. The platform focused on opportunistic real estate transactions, with emphasis on multifamily, retail, office, land and industrial properties.
Prior to GMAC, Mr. Rollins was the President and Founder of Eastern Realty Corporation, an “RTC era” real estate investment company. Eastern Realty purchased over $400 million of distressed assets from the RTC and other distressed financial institutions. Eastern Realty acted as General Partner and resolved, repositioned and sold the distressed notes and REO. These disposition efforts included debt restructuring, bankruptcy, litigation and development, note sales and property sales. Prior to Eastern Realty, Mr. Rollins had a career in real estate lending with regional banks and was Director of Finance for a public home builder.
Mr. Rollins holds an MBA in Finance from George Washington University and an undergraduate degree in Finance and Marketing from Virginia Tech.
He is a frequent speaker and guest lecture on real estate finance at universities and professional symposia and has written numerous articles on the topic of commercial real estate finance.

Ms. Steinberg’s career has been a steady rise, leading to her current title of Executive Vice President of JCR Capital, LLC. Prior to joining forces with Jay Rollins as a founder and Principal in JCR Capital, Ms. Steinberg was a top contributor to GMAC Commercial Holding Capital Corp. In her capacity as Vice President, Operations, she managed a portfolio of assets of over $1.6 billion, which included highly structured real estate transactions. She was responsible for all asset management functions, loan servicing, and balance sheet functions, and developed underwriting and asset management policies and procedures. She was responsible for all loan restructures and modifications and capital markets execution for syndication of loans. Prior to her role as VP, Operations, she structured and closed in excess of $250 million of high leveraged loans, including developing template and closing first loans made by group on tax exempt defaulted bond transactions
Before her tenure at GMAC, Ms. Steinberg served as Director of Development at Royal Investments Corp. There, she worked in Sweden and England as a liaison between an acquired Swedish real estate management company and an international investor group. Additionally, she was a liaison for an international Board of Directors. She also developed and implemented business plans for a UK based loan servicing platform and individual assets totaling $300 million+.
In the years previous, she earned a promotion from Director of Capital Markets to Associate Director of European Operations at Crown North Corp, Inc. Ms. Steinberg was involved in various aspects of due diligence and analysis for a $640 million real estate acquisition in Sweden. She conducted due diligence, negotiations, and contract closings on a new European transaction, totaling $200 million. She also coordinated contractual activities and financial reporting to the board of directors and shareholders between the CFO of European Operations and the CFO of Crown North Corp, Inc.
As Eastern Realty Corporation’s Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Steinberg managed cash and investments for portfolios totaling over $400 million. She provided reporting to investors and financial contacts, including high-yield opportunity fund partners. She is credited with overseeing due diligence and closings for real estate and related portfolios of $400 million+.
At Providence Savings & Loan, as a Financial Consultant, Ms. Steinberg was instrumental in creating successful bids to acquire over $400 million in real estate and related assets. Her chief responsibilities included asset valuation, due diligence and cash flow analysis.
Ms. Steinberg possesses a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the George Washington University. Fresh after earning this degree, she obtained her first position as Chief Financial Officer for Sargis & Jones, where she managed finances and systems for a $22 million commercial construction company.

Henry Reed joined JCR Capital in September 2009 as a Director. Prior to joining JCR Capital, Henry Reed was a Managing Partner with Wright and Company, a development firm in Avon, Colorado, where he was responsible for the financing, development, and marketing of mixed-use, multi-family, and luxury resort real estate development projects in Colorado and Northern California. During his tenure at Wright and Company, he played a key role in the development of Eagle Ranch Village, a 175,000 square foot mixed-use development in Eagle, Colorado; and the Village at Gray’s Crossing, a mixed-use resort development in Truckee, California. Mr. Reed is well versed in all aspects of real estate development and investment including acquisitions, entitlements, financing, development, marketing & leasing, asset management, and asset disposition. In addition to his management responsibilities, Mr. Reed served as the company’s Director of Finance.
Prior to his time with Wright and Company, Mr. Reed served as a financial analyst with W.W. Reynolds and Companies of Boulder, Colorado, a commercial real estate firm. Prior to attending graduate school, Mr. Reed was employed six years as a project manager and chief estimator with J.L. Viele Construction, a commercial and residential construction firm in Vail, Colorado.
A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Reed holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Colorado with emphasis in Finance and Real Estate and a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University. Mr. Mahan is a Director at JCR Capital, where he is responsible for origination and preliminary screening of deal flow. From early 2008 until joining JCR Capital, Mr. Mahan was a principal at Surant Real Estate Capital, Inc., focusing on the trading of distressed commercial and residential loans and securities and assisting banks in the disposition of assets.
Since early 2005 until LaSalle Bank was acquired (on 10/1/07 by Bank of America), Mr. Mahan led the effort within the Real Estate Capital Markets group (RECM) to price mortgages for origination and was instrumental in selling approximately $21 billion of conduit and small multifamily mortgages originated during his tenure at LaSalle. The pricing process included reviewing transaction summaries, working closely with loan originators and credit officers to ensure that the capital structure, timing of required debt service and property cash flows were properly aligned as well as ensuring that quotes were market competitive and all loan rate and structural issues were addressed. Mr. Mahan was chosen to serve on the RECM transition team to ensure a smooth transfer of responsibility for all real estate capital markets activities of the Commercial Conduit Group (including the small commercial program "Select") and the Multifamily Group (“MFG”) which originated loans of $5 million or less for inclusion in MFG only CMBS issuances or for sale to Fannie Mae.
Prior to LaSalle Bank, Mr. Mahan joined Bear Stearns in 1999 and Deutsche Bank in 2002, with responsibility for the pricing and structuring of commercial and residential mortgage securities (CMBS and RMBS).
Mr. Mahan worked on principal real estate transactions from 2003 to 2005, including a manufactured housing development and foreclosures.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mahan has worked with distressed assets, including scratch & dent residential and commercial loans and other mortgage related securities and assets.

Pablo Fuenzalida
Senior Associate
Mr. Fuenzalida joined JCR Capital in February of 2009 as a Senior Associate. Mr. Fuenzalida’s career in commercial real estate finance has spanned over 10 years. Prior to working for JCR Capital, Mr. Fuenzalida held the position of Senior Associate at Transwestern Investment Company, where he analyzed, originated and underwrote mezzanine loans on commercial real estate ranging from $5-40MM.
Prior to working for Transwestern, Mr. Fuenzalida held the position of Assistant Vice President at Union Bank of California, Corporate Real Estate Industries Group. In this position, he oversaw all aspects of the commercial real estate loan process, and was responsible for managing a $315MM loan portfolio. During his tenure at Union Bank, Mr. Fuenzalida facilitated the underwriting and closing of $179MM in bank commitments, with individual loans in the $9MM -$35MM range.
Mr. Fuenzalida holds a BA in Business Economics from the University of California, as well as an MBA from the University of Wisconsin. During his MBA, he completed internships as a Multifamily Acquisitions Associate with The Bascom Group and Sares-Regis in Irvine, CA.

Tara Eisler is an Associate at JCR Capital, and has been with the company since February of 2007. Ms. Eisler’s professional career has centered on financial services; prior to joining JCR Capital, Ms. Eisler spent four years in the residential mortgage arena. Ms. Eisler is working toward a dual BS/MS in Public Administration and Organizational Leadership.

In May of 2009, Mr. Kessler joined the JCR as an associate. Zak’s experience in commercial real estate finance has spanned over 3 years. Prior to joining JCR Capital, Mr. Kessler was a financial analyst consultant for Vantage Pointe Capital Management, a Del Mar California based Senior Housing Investment Advisory and Brokerage firm.
In his career before consulting with Vantage Pointe, Zak was a production financial analyst for the San Diego office of CBRE | Melody Capital Markets. Mr. Kessler supported a team of mortgage bankers as a production and underwriting analyst in originating first trust mortgages, equity placements, and other structured commercial real estate transactions throughout the US. During his tenure at CBRE | Melody, Mr. Kessler underwrote and closed over $300 million in transactions throughout Southern California and the rest of the United States.
Mr. Kessler began his professional career while still attending college when he worked as a research and marketing analyst for the Spokane Area Economic Development Council in Spokane, WA. After graduation from college, Zak returned to Denver and began his career in finance as a credit risk analyst for the leading provider of third party financial analysis to Wall Street issuers of Residential Mortgage Backed Securities (RMBS). He was quickly promoted to senior credit risk analyst with the firm while specializing in cash-flow modelling, geographic delinquency trending, and loss trend analysis.
Mr. Kessler earned a B.A. degree in Political Science and Business Administration, graduating summa cum laude from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA.

Justin Kaufmann joined JCR Capital in July of 2009. Mr. Kaufmann moved to Denver in 2005 after graduating from the University of Missouri with a B.Sc. in Finance and Real Estate. Prior to joining JCR Capital, Mr. Kaufmann worked in private equity real estate investment while completing his MBA and MS in Real Estate and Construction Management at the University of Denver.

Mike Sekits
Director
Mr. Sekits joined Jacobs Asset Management in 2006 as a founding member of JAM Equity Partners, LLC. Prior to JAM, he was the President of Sekits Capital providing investment banking services to financial services and consumer product companies. Prior to founding Sekits Capital in 1999, he was an Associate Director in Bear Stearns & Co.'s Investment Banking Department where he specialized in M&A advisory, high yield finance and public equity issuance for financial service businesses. Prior to Bear Stearns, Mr. Sekits was an Associate at The Shansby Group, a private equity fund that acquires consumer product businesses.
Mr. Sekits received his Bachelor of Arts in economics and accounting from Claremont McKenna College with the Phi Beta Kappa distinction. Mr. Sekits has served on the board of directors of Vertical Lend and currently serves on the board of directors for Reverse Mortgage Solutions, Kondaur Capital, JCR Capital and Wingspan Portfolio Advisors.
